Matthew studed photography both in high school and during his cinematography courses in film school at Chapman University. He specializes in natural light headshots and general portraiture for actors, musicians, dancers, families, and children. He is also available for weddings, product photography, and promotional photography.
In this sense, Matthew is a photographer who takes artistic license with the world in front of his lens. He is an unabashed advocate of digital photography, not just because it is far more convenient than shooting on film but also because the process of digital editing is an entire art form unto itself. Each captured image offers a chance to create a unique representation of reality, in which colors, contrasts, white balances, and a multitude of other qualities don't necessaritly have to look identical to what the camera captured. Digital editing offers endless possibiltiies for making a photo look its best, and finding the right one (if there is a right one) is a unique challenge. If a shot happens to look best exactly as it comes out of the camera, that is okay, too; it will dictate its own magic!
Every photograph tells a story by documenting a single moment. Storytelling, whether done visually or with words, is Matthew's passion in life. This combined with a general penchant for seeing pretty images -- whether they are perfect representations of reality or heightened visions of it -- are what excite him about digital photography.
